The Best Paella in Manila

I have always heard of Paella food being prepared in cooking shows I’ve watched, being discussed by my mom and her friends, and coming across various Seafood Paella recipes on Food Network. As a typical Filipino with Spanish roots, raised in a household where Spanish words are still used from time to time, it was only a matter of time before my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to try this much talked-about Spanish food. And try was what I did! Soon, it became my hobby to try out the paellas in various restaurants serving the dish.
What makes paella such a hit with Filipinos is that rice is such a staple in every meal, and when you find an all-in-one dish that already has rice and has toppings with such rich flavour and taste to boot, well then you suddenly found a new favourite dish!
One time, I decided to try the Filipino restaurant Elias simply because I saw that they were offering almost half-priced discount on food and drinks at Supreme Deals, and more importantly, because I saw that they have Paella in the menu when I checked it out at their site. So after I purchased the voucher, I headed to Elias in Robinson’s Magnolia (yes, it’s where the Magnolia Ice Cream House Factory of yester years used to be) together with my family to try out their paella.
The Pinoy Paella, described on the menu as “their own version of the Spanish Rice Dish, with Prawns, Chicken, Inihaw na Liempo & Chorizo, is actually bursting with flavour when served to us, to me and my family’s total delight! It’s the right mix of sweet and salty and the general flavour of the Paella reminded me of the sweet sauce of Imy favourite Inihaw na Liempo except that the taste of Elias’ Paella is more complex, letting you discover the different flavours, spice, herbs and toppings mixed in with the delightful dish. With one bite, you will taste several things all at once –whether it be the tanginess of the Chorizo, the sweet sauce of the Inihaw na Liempo and Lechong Manok, and the special herbs that make the dish memorable and distinctive.
What I like best about Paella at Elias is truly the flavour, which makes me feel that the chef really spent careful time preparing the dish for me and my family, and I really appreciated that. I have been to other restaurants before and I have tried pricier Paellas but the taste do not compare to the Paella I met at Elias, which is truly delicioso!
So will I be back at Elias anytime soon? I most definitely will! If you want to taste their Paella for yourself, go and purchase your voucher at Elias discounted at almost half the price off today at Supreme Deals. Bon Appetit!
