Ilocos Tour Travel Review
My cousins Adele, Trixie, Dan and I have this plan of travelling at least once a year as a form of bonding. Just recently we decided to have an Ilocos Tour and visit Ilocos region. Before going to Ilocos, I knew nothing about the place except that it has the yummiest Ilocos chichacorn bits. I’ve also heard good reviews about their Vigan longganiza. One of my cousins suggested that we visit Ilocos because as an architect, he wants to check out the Spanish colonial houses there.
One of the places we loved in our Ilocos Tour is Vigan. My cousin Dan was very happy to see the beautiful architecture that was showcased throughout the city. The Mestizo District featured ancestral houses, cobblestone streets, and capiz shell windows. We learned that Vigan is the only city in the Philippines known as a UNESCO World Heritage City. Calesas were readily available at P150 per hour as the calesa driver will tour you around the popular museums and destination spots in the city. There are also tricycles you can ride for the same cost if you have no patience to wait for calesas to take you to the places you wanna see.
Other places of interest include the 17th Century Juan de Salcedo monument in Plaza Salcedo, where Gabriela Silang was hanged; the Crisologo Museum which shows the bloodied pants of Congressman Floro Crisologo as well as the Chevrolet his wife rode; the Padre Burgos National Museum that shows the memorabilia of renowned priest Jose Burgos and also displays a collection of archaeological and ethnographic collections like a partly opened Itneg or Tinguian coffin complete with human remains; and Barangay Camangaan where Vigan weavers create abel, a native cotton fabric that are made into shawls, hankies, blankets, gowns and barongs.
We also foud time to visit Baluarte owned by Governor Chavit Singson. It’s a zoo that features sheeps, deers, alpacas, tigers, sugar gliders and pythons. The park also had pony rides and animal shows.
Finally, we all loved the St. Augustine Parish Church aka Bantay Church, the oldest church in Ilocos Sur that was built in 1590. There was a breath-taking view on top of the small hill where we can see the nearby mountains in Abra as well as the South China Sea.
We recommend going on an Ilocos Tour to anyone who is looking for a local destination to explore this summer! And to make things easy for you, Supreme Deals is offering an Ilocos Tour travel discount right now if you check their site. Definitely worth a try!
