The Single Girl’s Guide to Enjoying Me-Time

It is easy for single girls (and single boys as well) to throw themselves at work and get too busy meeting deadlines, studying for exams, juggling priorities and basically putting everybody else’s interests before their own. With so many things demanding for attention, it may seem impossible for these driven individuals to take a break from the demands of daily living. Here are a few tips to help single girls enjoy me-time that does not involve internet dating or signing up at free online dating sites:

1. Set time for work and for leisure.

  • Being a workaholic is a good excuse for not being able to take care of yourself. To solve this, find a way to set a specific time for work, and another one for leisure. Usually, the best time for this is in the morning before you go to work and again in the evening at dinner time where you can focus on yourself or your family.

2. Try meditation.

  • With so many meditation apps available out there, it is now easier to give meditation a try. Meditation will help you count your blessings and be more grateful, which in turn will reduce anxiety, negative emotions and distractions. Try meditation early in the morning or at night before going to bed.

3. Determine your time wasters.

  • Whether it is answering personal calls during work hours, running to the grocery daily instead of buying for the week or something else, it will do better to take the time to organize all your tasks and plan ahead so that you can end up having more free time for yourself.

4. Get a journal.

  • Sort out not just your professional but also your personal life by keeping a journal where you can write down things that you have accomplished, what needs to be done, people that you meet, and your feelings. You can also write your observations as well as try drafting short poems whenever you’re stuck in traffic.

5. Talk to family and friends.

  • Take a few minutes to talk to a person you like such as a family member or your best friend and see how they are doing. Talking about positive things in other people’s lives can be good for keeping you grounded.

6. Get enough sleep.

  • Recent studies have shown the benefit of getting enough sleep to individuals. Among the positive results cited include being happier, having better health and being better at making decisions.

7. Plan how you can best spend your me-time.

  • How each of us wants to spend our time off from work depends on our individual differences, personality traits, and so forth. So get out your journal and list down what you would do to make yourself happier, more relaxed and more energized if you had extra time on your hands. Categorize the list into 15 minutes, half hour, an afternoon or a whole day and then put the list in mind for your next free time.

8. Get spa treatments.
