Skin care is more than just cleansing and applying the right products. It involves proper diet, enough sleep and stress management. It is essential for us to take care of our skin early on to prevent premature aging and any skin diseases in the future. Personally, I follow five golden rules when it comes to taking care of my skin.
1. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
It might seem impractical to use moisturizers or lotions especially in tropical countries like the Philippines. However, I must say that moisturizing our skin is still essential to keep it hydrated and improve elasticity.
2. Drink Lots of H20
Believe it or not, not drinking enough water will have an effect on your skin and it's visible! Being dehydrated can cause skin to feel dry and rough, and who would want that, right?
3. Improve Your Lifestyle
Get enough sleep, exercise, eat healthy and manage your stress levels. As I have mentioned, many factors affect your skin and a lifestyle change will definitely take care of not only your health but also the health of your skin. Improving your lifestyle will not only make you live longer but make you age gracefully as well.
4. Use SPF
You might think that using products with SPF is just for the beach. This is a BIG misconception. Using products with SPF daily is highly recommended to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. This will help prevent skin cancer and other skin conditions. (Additional fact: Did you know that there are more new cases of skin cancer than any other type of cancer combined? YIKES!)
5. Remove Your Makeup
Always clean your face before going to bed. You might get lazy to remove your makeup especially after a long day but remember that makeup can clog your pores and can lead to more problems in the future. Acne? No thanks!
There you have it, my 5 golden rules when it comes to proper skin care. It 's never too early nor too late to start taking care of your skin. Pamper your skin now and you will reap the benefits when you get older. If I were you, I'd start looking for beauty products that suit you, maybe online or in-store and start using them NOW!
