5 Genius Ways to Prevent Chapped Lips

1. Don't Lick Your Lips

Most of us lick our lips when it feels dry. (yes! I'm guilty of this too!) But as much as possible, prevent yourself from licking your lips throughout the day. Though it adds moisture in the short term, saliva actually contains acids that can dry them out even more!

2. Drink Lots Of Water

When you're dehydrated, your lips crack. So naturally, when you drink lots of water, you're less dehydrated and your lips will look healthier.

3. Use Petroleum Jelly

Not really into spending so much in expensive lip balms? Try petroleum jelly! It's super moisturizing (even more than other lip balms) and it's super cheap! It has a lot of uses too, so it will be really handy to have one in stock.

4. Apply Balm Before Washing Your Face Your cleanser or soap might actually be the culprit! Soaps can cause drying of your skin including your lips! Before washing your face, try applying balm or any moisturizer (hmmm, hello petroleum jelly!) on your lips. It could make such a difference!

5. Take A Pass On Citrus Fruits

If you already have chapped lips, don't go for orange juice or other citrus fruits, it can cause more dryness and can make them worse!
